Shirley Forsythe, an 82-year-old devoted church member and beloved grandmother from Cooter, MO, passed away on January 27, 2025. She leaves behind her daughter Carla, granddaughter Emily, and cherished friends.

Shirley Forsythe,82, of Cooter, MO passed away on Monday January 27,2025 at the River Oaks care center in Steele, MO.

Shirley was born on October 4, 1942, in Regan TN. The daughter of Dula McCollum. She graduated from Cooter High School with the class of 1960. She married Clifton “Eutah” Forsythe on October 15, 1960, at the Tyler Baptist Church in Tyler, MO. They remained in the Cooter area raising their only child Carla. She was a member of the Faith Pentecostal Church in Holland, Missouri where she taught Sunday School. She had a genuine devotion for Jesus and was often found praying for others. Some of her enjoyments in life were gardening, cooking and sewing and most of all being a grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her mom Dula and her husband Clifton “Eutah” on April 11, 2015. 2 sisters; Johnie Sue Benison, and Wanda Hathcock. 2 brothers; Bobby and Billy McCollum.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carla Franklin of Cooter, MO and her granddaughter Emily Roob and her husband Chris of Austin, TX

And her many friends at the River Oaks Care Center.

Funeral services were held on Friday January 31, 2025, at 1:00 am with Emily Roob officiating at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele. The visitation was from 12-1 the same day. Interment was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, MO. Pallbearers were Roy Forsythe, Jeff Forsythe, Jonathan Forsythe, Chris Roob, Lyle Davis, and Edward Forsythe.
