Jimmie Harold Melton was born in Concord, MO on January 29, 1942. He passed away on February 16, 2025, at his home in Hayti, MO. He was 83 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Mae (Henson) Melton, first wife: Vera Melton, 2 brothers: Wayne and Kenny Melton, one daughter: Melissa Rushing, one grandson: Alex Baxter, one great granddaughter: Jaylynn Elliott, and beloved dog: Taco Melton

Jimmie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle. He loved working and did so until he fell ill. He enjoyed fishing, camping, deer hunting, and feeding the squirrels and birds. He also enjoyed watching Nascar racing, westerns, and spending time with family and friends.

He leaves the following behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Marjorie Melton of Hayti, MO, children, Jimmy Melton and (Becky Kelsey) of Caruthersville, MO, Mequeeta (James Elliott) of Caruthersville, MO, and Joe Ben Baxter, Jr. of Steele, MO, grandchildren, Nickie (Ernesto) Luna of Caruthersville, MO, James and Audrey Elliott of Caruthersville, MO, Vanessa Rushing and John Louthain of Cooter, MO, Paul Joshua Melton of Greeneville, TN, Austin and Michelle Melton of Roella, TN, and Harley Baxter of Steele, MO, great grandchildren, Kimberly and Clell White, Dominique Luna, and Emily Luna, Ashlynn Elliott, Audrey Elliott, Colton Barney, Jamison Elliott, Kylee Minnik, Charlotte Elliott, Roman Elliott, Benjamin Louthain, and Laura Beth Melton, great great grandchildren, Oaklynn White and Rowan White and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti, MO. with Jon Pruiett officiating. Burial with military honors was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, MO. Pallbearers were Allen Lee, Bubby Henson, James Cantrell, John Louthain, and Ernie Luna. Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Tomlin, James Elliot, and Josh Melton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti, MO.
