James E. Chapman, a beloved carpenter and Atlanta Braves fan, passed away at 68. Known for his fun-loving nature, he leaves behind his wife Sharon, granddaughter Maddison, and great-granddaughter Harper.

James E. Chapman was born in Dyer County, TN, on December 9, 1956.

He departed this life in Caruthersville, MO, on February 25, 2025. He was 68 years old.

On March 4, 1975, he was united in marriage to Sharon Leitherland in Dyersburg, TN. They celebrated 49 years of marriage.

He worked as a carpenter for many years before having to retire because of his health.

Jimmy was known for his easy-going fun-loving personality. He enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee and chocolate with everyone. He loved baseball and was a huge Atlanta Brave fan. Another love of his was shooting pool and you could count on the fact that he would win.

His absolute favorite was being called “Doh” by his granddaughter and his great granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife: Sharon Chapman; one granddaughter: Maddison Day; one great granddaughter: Harper; several siblings; and many other friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a daughter – Hayley Chapman Day.
