January 19, 2025, Hayti Officers were dispatched to a local motel in reference to counterfeit money and theft of property. Upon arrival Hayti Officers spoke with the victim and obtained their information. The victim identified the suspect that gave them the counterfeit bills. The victim stated the suspect gave them six counterfeit $100.00 dollar bills to purchase a cell phone. Hayti Officers investigated this incident and submitted a case that was submitted to the Pemiscot County Prosecutors office for the filing of formal charges.
January 25, 2025, at approximately 1:52pm Hayti Officers were dispatched to the 400blk of East McKinley in reference to possible kidnapping. Upon arrival Hayti officers spoke with the victim and she identified a male suspect from Hayti. The suspect had fled the scene before officers arrived. Hayti Officers obtained the victims statement and opened up an investigation. During the investigation Hayti officers learned that the victim had been held against her will approximately all night. The victim also disclosed that they were assaulted numerous times during the night. Hayti officers filed the case with the Pemiscot County Prosecutors office for Kidnapping and Domestic Assault 2nd degree.
January 29, 2025, The Caruthersville Police Department located and arrested Jeffery A. Treat (30) of Hayti on several charges. Treat was charged with Domestic Assault - 2nd Degree (Class D Felony) and Kidnapping - 2nd Degree (Class D Felony). Treat is currently being held in the Pemiscot County Justice Center without Bond.
January 24, 2025, at approximately 11:45pm Hayti officers were on patrol on Highway 84 East when they observed a vehicle traveling 70mph in a 45mph zone. Hayti officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle for a speeding violation. The unidentified driver then sped up to approximately 101mph in a 35mph speed zone. Before the officers could get the driver stopped, they wrecked their vehicle. The driver ran off the road and into a ditch then hit the traffic signal light pole on top of the overpass. Hayti officers requested Hayti Fire department, Medic One, additional assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol and The Pemiscot County Sheriff’s office. The driver had to be extracted from the vehicle and was later flown to a regional hospital. Hayti officers obtained all the driver’s information, and they will be charged with Felony fleeing and Driving While Intoxicated. All charges will be sent to the Pemiscot County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
January 27, 2025, at approximately 1:30pm Hayti officers went to the 100blk of East Jefferson to follow up on a theft investigation from a local business. When Hayti officers arrived at the residence the front door was open. officers observed two glass bulb pipes and some of what they believed to be methamphetamine on the kitchen table. At that time Hayti Officers secured the residence and obtained a search warrant through the Pemiscot County Prosecutors office. Once Hayti Officers obtained the search warrant it was executed at 104 East Jefferson. Hayti officers located in the living room two clear pipes with bulbs on the end containing a white crystal-like powdery substance, one set of digital scales, three clear plastic baggies containing a white crystal-like powdery substance, one broken glass pipe containing a white crystal-like powdery substance, one used Syringe, and one clear plastic baggie with a white crystal-like powdery substance on it. Officers also collected items from the business that were stolen. All evidence was collected and taken to the Hayti Police Department for processing. The evidence was later tested, and it tested positive Methamphetamine. The suspect was processed and transported to the Pemiscot County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Pemiscot County Prosecutors office. Later that same day Geoffrey N. Haynes (54) of Hayti was charged with Felony Stealing (Class D felony), Possession of Controlled substance (Class D Felony) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Amphetamine or Methamphetamine (Class E Felony). Haynes is currently being held in the Pemiscot County Justice Center with no bond.
January 28th, 2025, at approximately 2:35pm Hayti officers contacted a female walking in the alley by East Main Street. Hayti officers spoke with the subject Later identified as Melissa J. Spain (33) of Hayti. Spain was searched, Officers located several small glass pipes with methamphetamine residue. Spain was arrested for Drug Paraphernalia (three counts) and transported to the Hayti Police Department. Spain was processed and released with a Hayti Municipal Court date of March 20th, 2025, at 5pm.
January 29th, 2025, at approximately 11am Hayti officers located and arrested Marylin Sanford (69) in the 200 blk of East Cleveland. Sanford had six warrants for Failure to Appear on the original charges of Assault, Peace Disturbance (three counts), Trespassing and Stealing/Larceny/Theft issued by Hayti Municipal court. Sanford was processed and transported to the Pemiscot County Justice Center with a bond of $810.50. Sanford was given a Hayti Municipal court date of 02/06/2025 at 5pm.
January 30th, 2025, at approximately 3:40 am Hayti Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation at the intersection of 84 and J highway. Hayti officers contacted the driver later identified as Christopher B. Thompson (46) of Osceola. During the traffic stop Hayti Officers suspected that Thompson was intoxicated. Hayti officers subsequently arrested Thompson for Driving While Intoxicated. Thompson was transported to the Hayti Police department where he was processed and released with a court date of 03/20/2025 @5pm.
January 30, 2025, at approximately 4:30am Hayti Officers observed the same vehicle pulling onto the parking lot of a local business. Hayti Officers observed Christopher B. Thompson driving again. Hayti Officers contacted Thompson, and he was still intoxicated. Thompson was arrested again and transported to the Hayti Police department. Thompson was given citations for Driving While Intoxicated and Disobedience to Police. Thompson was transported to the Pemiscot County Justice center on 24-hour hold pending the filing of formal charges by the City Prosecutor. Thompson has a court date of 03/20225 @5pm.
February 2, 2025, Hayti Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for traveling 60MPH in a 35MPH Zone. The driver was later identified as Ibra-IM Lawrence, 37 of Hayti Heights. The vehicle did not stop and accelerated its speed to evade officers. Hayti officers initiated a pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle was evading at speeds of over 90MPH. The pursuit led to Hayti Heights, where Lawrence exited and fled on foot. Officers were able to successfully deploy a taser and subdue the subject with no further incidents. Medical responded and transported Lawrence to the hospital. Hayti Officers obtained a search warrant to retrieve a blood sample from Lawrence. While at the hospital Lawrence refused to give a blood sample and became combative, disturbing other patients. Officers were eventually able to obtain the blood sample. After Lawrence was cleared medically he was transported to the Pemiscot County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold for the following: Valentine Law Aggravated Fleeing of a Motor Vehicle Resisting Arrest by Fleeing Interference with a Health Care Facility No Operators License Speeding by 26 MPH or more.
