Caruthersville police arrested multiple individuals on outstanding warrants, including charges of animal abuse, no insurance, and possession of a controlled substance, following a vehicle ownership dispute.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 7:47 PM, Caruthersville Police were dispatched to an address on Cotton Avenue in reference to a possible stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, officers learned that family members who had all participated in purchasing a car were now arguing about ownership. Officers and the reporting party went to a secondary address to verify who the vehicle was registered to. Upon checking the MULES/NCIC database, officers learned the car was only registered to the reporting party. While officers were still at the residence waiting for the reporting party to recover the vehicle and leave, a 35-year-old female became highly disruptive. The female cursed and yelled at the reporting party in a blatant attempt to elicit a reaction from the owner, refusing to abide by the officer’s lawful orders to re-enter the residence. The female was arrested to quell the situation before a fight broke out. The female was booked into the Pemiscot County Justice Center on a twenty-four-hour hold for the municipal charges of Willfully Opposing an Officer and Resisting Arrest.
