Something to Think About:Hope for the Future
I wanted to share some highlights of an article I wrote years ago on another platform that I believe will be helpful for someone reading this today. Not only will it give you something to
think about but build your faith for a better tomorrow in Christ.
What is life if we don’t have something we are looking forward to in the future? When we were 8 years old, we couldn’t wait to be 10. At 10, we wanted to be a teenager. At 13, we looked forward to turning 16. At 16, we wanted to be 18. Then at 18, we believed things would be
better when we turned 21.
We get up most mornings expecting a good and productive day. We believe that our efforts will give us the results we desire. We even endure hard times and trying seasons because we believe something better is coming from the situation and great things are just around the
corner.
Unfortunately, we’ve all been at a place in life where we weren’t so confident about the future.
The knowing we had in our hearts about our efforts paying off, achieving our objectives, and our discouraging situations changing all but faded away.
If you’ve lived long enough, you’ve experienced failure, heartbreak, and trouble of all kinds.
You’ve had circumstances that caused you dread and sleepless nights. However, a part of you kept moving forward because no matter how bad things looked, how bad you felt, or how hopeless things may have appeared, there was something inside you telling you that things
would turn around.
Sometimes, our troubles and trials speak louder than the hopeful voice inside us, and that is when we can benefit from reading and meditating on bible verses to help give us hope for the future.
Hope is simply when we desire and expect a particular thing to happen. Additionally, hope is belief in the fulfillment of a thing you long to see. When we have hope, we are living life with
an optimistic outlook and mindset based on the circumstances and events we anticipate will come to pass.
Furthermore, to have hope is to “expect with confidence.” And as believers in God and verses of scripture as His word and letter to us, we don’t just have hope and live in a state of wishful thinking. We place our hopes in God, the one who can guide us to the place where our hopes
and dreams become reality.
Below are 10 bible verses that will help you have hope for the future, amid uncertainty.
Psalms 42:5 says, “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become
restless and disturbed within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.”
Psalm 46:1-2 says, “God is our refuge and strength [mighty and impenetrable], a very present and well-proved help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains be shaken and slip into the heart of the seas.”
Jeremiah 17:7 says, “Blessed [with spiritual security] is the man who believes and trusts
in and relies on the LORD And whose hope and confident expectation is the LORD.”
Psalms 71:5 says, “For You are my hope; O Lord GOD, You are my trust and the source of my
confidence from my youth.”
Psalms 39:7 says, “And now, Lord, for what do I expectantly wait? My hope [my confident expectation] is in You.”
Psalms 130:5 says, “I wait [patiently] for the LORD, my soul [expectantly] waits, and in His word do I hope.”
Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.”
Micah 7:7 says, “But as for me, I will look expectantly for the LORD and with confidence in Him I will keep watch; I will wait [with confident expectation] for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. 6 In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him,
And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”
1 Peter 1:3 says, “Blessed [gratefully praised and adored] be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant and boundless mercy has caused us to be born again [that is, to be reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] to an ever-living hope and confident assurance through the resurrection of Jesus
Christ from the dead.”
In the face of uncertainty, turmoil, and despair may you find solace, peace, and rest. As you meditate with a hopeful heart on these good bible verses about the future, may the clouds of uncertainty and storms of confusion begin to dissolve as you let go of all limiting beliefs.
My desire is that you find yourself hoping for things you never dared to believe in in the past.
As you dare to believe, may you find the Lord’s hand of guidance and strength. May you be filled with the courage to reach new heights, hope for the impossible, and remain diligent in your faith until you see your heart’s desires come to fruition. Something to think about.
