Support Caruthersville High's Healthy Heart Month by donating $5 to light up a heart in memory or honor of loved ones. Funds aid scholarships for students entering health-related fields.

LIGHT THE HEART!

February is Healthy Heart Month. Please help light the heart on the front of the Caruthersville High School Auditorium. A $5.00 donation will place a light in the heart in memory or honor of a loved one, friend, family member, co-worker, etc. Funds raised will be used to award the

Healthy Heart Scholarship to a graduating student entering a health-related field. Names of those memorialized will be sent to the local radio station and newspaper. For a memorial contribution of $15 or more, a card will be sent to the designated family to acknowledge the memorial.

This scholarship fund was started in 1996 by J. J. Bullington, in memory of her mother, Bernice Bullington, who died of heart disease in 1994. Since that time over $46,000 has been awarded in scholarships to a graduate entering a health related occupation. The scholarship is made possible by citizens of Caruthersville through donations made in memory of or to honor friends and loved ones.

To make a donation, send a check to the Healthy Heart Scholarship Fund, c/o Amy Stricklin, 1711 Ward Ave., or stop by the Caruthersville School District Administration Building. Please include name of individual being honored or memorialized, as well as the name and address the memorial card is to be sent to.
